Temporary Trail Closures
STATE FOREST BRIDLE TRAILS OPEN
STARTING SATURDAY, APRIL 1, 2023
Bridle trails are very popular with visitors to Ohio’s state forests. That’s why it is important that the Division of Forestry manage these trails in a way that allows them to be sustained for the long term. A winter-seasonal closure helps protect the trails during a time of year in which they can be consistently wet and muddy. A small amount of use can result in a very large negative impact to the trail condition. The winter-seasonal closure also allows forestry staff and organizations with approved volunteer agreements to conduct maintenance and improvement projects. This results in beautiful trails for visitors to enjoy for years to come.
This seasonal schedule affects the following Ohio State Forests:
BLUE ROCK
BRUSH CREEK
DEAN
HARRISON
HOCKING
MOHICAN-MEMORIAL
PERRY
PIKE
SCIOTO TRAIL
SHAWNEE
TAR HOLLOW
ZALESKI

Cuyahoga Valley Trail Update!
Viewing the Cuyahoga Valley landscape from horseback is like no other experience. Horseback riding is permitted only on trails signed and designated as horse trails. Hiking is allowed on all trails. Horses need to be brought in as there are no horse rentals adjacent to the bridle trails in the national park.
The parking area at Station Road Bridge Trailhead, near Brecksville Reservation, has large pull-through parking spaces that require little to no "backing" efforts. They are designed for horse trailers and buses. Boston Trailhead and the Everett Covered Bridge parking lot were not designed for horse trailers, and while it is legal for them to park there, it is often a challenge to navigate.
Enjoy your ride! Happy trails to you!
